What this site collects

Very little. There are no accounts and no forms. Page views are counted without cookies. When advertising is shown, the advertising partner sets its own cookies, and you can say no. This page says what is collected, by whom, and how to opt out.

What we collect

Page analytics, without cookies
We count page views and measure how fast pages load using Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights. They record the page visited, the referring site, the country or region, and the type of browser and device, together with loading times. They set no cookies, store nothing on your device, and do not follow you to other sites. The counts cannot be traced back to you.
Server logs
Our host, Vercel, processes your IP address to deliver each page and keeps short-lived request logs for security and reliability. We do not use them to identify readers.
Nothing else from you
There are no accounts, no sign-ups and no forms. The only way to write to us is by email, through the report a wrong figure link. If you do, we keep your message for as long as it takes to check the figure and reply, and use it for nothing else.

Advertising

Advertising, where it is shown on this site, is served by Google AdSense. Ads appear in marked frames, labelled “Advertisement”, and never inside a cap figure or table.

To serve and measure ads, Google and its advertising partners may set cookies and read identifiers on your device. Depending on your settings and where you are, that can include personalised ads based on your visits to this and other sites. How Google uses this data is described in its policy for partner sites.

Where the law requires your consent before advertising cookies are set, the ad frame or a consent message asks for it first, and nothing from the advertising partner loads until you agree. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, that message is Google's certified consent message. In Quebec, the ad frame asks before any ad loads. Elsewhere in Canada, ads are shown without personalisation. Your choice is kept in a cookie set by this site, so you are not asked on every page.

We do not run Google Analytics or any other advertising or tracking service.

Your choices

  • Decline in the consent message. Where it is shown, choose not to allow advertising cookies. The site works the same; the ad frame shows a house card instead.
  • Google's ad settings. Turn off ad personalisation for your Google account or browser at adssettings.google.com.
  • Your browser. Block or clear cookies in your browser's settings, or use a content blocker. Blocking ads does not break any part of this site.

Who is responsible

The controller of any personal information collected here is the organization that operates Pro Pocket Watch. Google is an independent controller of the data it collects through advertising.

You can ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or withdraw a consent you gave. We answer within 30 days. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you may also complain to your data protection authority.

Changes

When this page changes, the date at the top changes with it. A change that collects anything new is announced on the site before it takes effect. How the cap figures themselves are compiled is described in Methodology.
